The official Chinese version of iPhone was released on October 30th.
The prices are;
iPhone3G 8GB RMB4999, iPhone3GS 16GB RMB5880, iPhone3GS 32GB RMB6999 at Apple Store (of course call charge not included)
And iPhone3G 8GB RMB5999, iPhone3GS 16GB RMB6999, iPhone3GS 32GB RMB7999 at China Unicom with prepaid call charge included
Some foreign media also commented that while oversea version of iPhone are available around RMB4000, the cheapest one is RMB4999, and moreover, because of the government regulation they don’t have Wifi and this makes it less attracting. So actually, how are they?
Personally, I wish they have Wifi as I enjoy using the Internet very comfortably on iPod touch. .
Well, I found an article about 威锋网(weiphone.com) that they disassembled newly gotten iPhone.
http://d1.it168.com/show/27572.html
It says that the Chinese version of iPhone has a BROADCOM chip that looks nothing different from the ones on gray-market iPhones(oversea versions, non-official ones). They are not sure of the specs・model, and so cannot judge whether it is a new model that Apple adopted for new iPhone or it is a model without Wifi especially made for China Unicom, however, they wish Chinese iPhones do have Wifi chip itself and that function will be supported someday like the bluetooth function was opened later at the OS upgrade.
The article said something like this.
However, China Unicom has announced that any mobile devices that support 3G are able to use their network, and it means that gray-market iPhones also can use their service.
Then what are gray-market iPhones? Next post is going to be some information about the gray-market iPhones I’ve seen.
…Don’t look forward to it so much.
